240 | How can fundraising get donors closer to those whom the organization serves?
Having learned during our conversation that my family is perhaps the biggest fans of Cincinnati chili outside the state of Ohio, Kat sent us a generous supply which we consumed almost immediately. Thank you very much, Kat.
Kat came prepared to talk about moves management; however, once we managed to get her off script, we discovered real gold. Kat’s experience has taught her that the story we are often told doesn’t translate into reality, and she believes that fundraising has become a lot of tell and not enough show. Kat believes we need to get better at showing our donors “the who” of what we’re doing and she knows very well that any thing that merely resembles arms-length fundraising isn’t going to cut it.
As I reflected on this conversation with Kat, I was reminded that it’s those in the field, who are consistently interacting with donors, who can provide us with the best read on where things are headed. Undoubtedly, I believe that it will be individuals like Kat who will lead the way in a qualitative and exploratory turn in contemporary fundraising practices in our post-pandemic economy.
As always, we are grateful to our friends at CueBack for sponsoring The Fundraising Talent Podcast. And, if you’d like learn more about partnering with a member of the team at Responsive, let’s arrange a call.
