#176 | How can fundraising be a place where we show up as our best self?
It’s not often that someone is as forthright and honest about themselves and their experiences as Jason Butler chose to be for this podcast interview. He has spent his entire career as a fundraising professional; and, along the way, he has been challenged with mental health concerns that only came to light in his last year of college. Jason credits his work as a fundraiser and the opportunity to build genuine meaningful relationships as part of his recovery. This discussion comes as a reminder of how nonprofits have the opportunity to create places where we can show up as a our real selves and be recognized and admired for meaningful work.
Jason never imagined he would be a fundraiser, yet he enthusiastically took on the challenge of the Director of Major Gifts position for The Salvation Army San Francisco. Today, Jason works for The Younique Foundation which inspires hope in women who were sexually abused as children or adolescents by providing healing services through retreats, support groups, and online resources. They also empower parents and caregivers to protect children through their Defend Innocence brand. Younique is honored to help support The Younique Foundation in their mission.
