#178 | Perhaps more automation is not what fundraising needs right now?
Great conversationalist, knows his work, and just an all around friendly guy: our friends at Bloomerang really picked a winner when they enlisted Steven to be their chief engagement officer. Today we had a chance to check in with Steven as his new book, Robots Make Bad Fundraisers, is now on bookshelves everywhere. Steven is the right person to be tackling this subject; he works for one of the most-celebrated CRM companies in our space.
It was encouraging to hear some of the trends that they are tracking which are very consistent with my own read on the sector and what we are hearing from our guests. Fundraisers are relying on the phone more often; their donors are picking it up when it rings, and these meaningful conversations are apparently paying off. As Steven noted, perhaps in the midst of Covid, fundraisers are strengthening some of the muscles that have been overlooked and ignored for quite some time. If you’d like to pick up a copy of Steven’s book, go ahead and click the link in the comments section.
