#185 | How can men be allies with women in the fundraising profession?
For obvious reasons, this year’s Raise conference was moved to a virtual format; however, that did not stop our friends at OneCause from organizing an extraordinary lineup of speakers to ensure their attendees a very meaningful and encouraging learning experience. I was very grateful for the opportunity to catch up with several of the Raise presenters this week and hear what they’re up to.
I was especially eager to talk with Kerry Watterson who started off sharing with me how men can be allies in our profession to ensure greater equity. I was not aware of AFP’s men’s ally program that has become an essential niche of the association's women’s initiative. My guests and I have not been shy around this topic, and it was encouraging to hear from another man about how we can advocate for our female colleagues in this space. After our break, Kerry and I also compared notes on how impact investing is gaining ground in our sector and the role that these innovative tools might play in our future fundraising efforts.
As always, we are grateful to the support we receive from OneCause. As mentioned during the break, if you’d like to talk to Heather or another member of the Responsive team about our training programs, please reach out to one of us to start a conversation.
