Fundraising Metrics, Beyond Dollars: What Else Should You Be Focused On

Yesterday I enjoyed a great conversation with my friend and colleague Jack that had me reminiscing about the past. During our conversation, I was reminded of some of the questions I was contemplating in graduate school about how to help nonprofit leaders make sense of highly effective fundraising practices. I was asking questions such as:

  • How do fundraisers achieve mastery of skills that can’t be automated or outsourced?

  • How do organizations ensure that fundraisers are recognized and admired for meaningful work?

  • How do boards and bosses make sense of more than just how much money is being raised?

These were some of the questions that I began answering in my first book, the types of questions we routinely wrestle with on the podcast, and those we explore during the roadshow.

If you’re interested in learning more about how Responsive assists nonprofit leaders in creating places where fundraising can thrive, download our latest white paper, Fundraiser Metrics, Beyond Dollars: What Else Should You Be Focused On, which describes a counter-intuitive approach to monitoring lane two fundraising. Responsive’s deliberate practice regime affords the lane two fundraiser an opportunity to master skills that they will be admired for having, that can’t be automated or outsourced, and that focuses the boss’ attention on inputs rather than outputs.
