#187 | Are fundraising professionals forgetting about their volunteers?

This year’s Raise conference was moved to a virtual format; however, that did not stop our friends at OneCause from organizing an extraordinary lineup of speakers to ensure their attendees a meaningful learning experience. I was grateful for the opportunity to talk with several of their presenters last week about their presentations.

I really enjoyed this conversation with Kristi because it reminded me of some of insights about volunteers that I learned early in my career. It also raised the question of why volunteers are not a regular topic of discussion here on the podcast when perhaps they should be. At a time when organizations are struggling to make ends meet and people may have more time than resources with which to be generous, it makes perfect sense that nonprofit leaders would consider enhancing their investment in a volunteer program. It was great to hear Kristi’s thoughts about how to ensure volunteers have a meaningful experience and meet the expectations we should have for them.

As always, we are grateful to the support we receive from OneCause. As mentioned during the break, if you’d like to talk to Theresa Lee or another member of the Responsive team about our training programs, please reach out to one of us to start a conversation.
